Sick, with a sense of humour

A friend of mine called me last week, thinking I was at work, to ask me to lunch. I told him I was home, sick. To which he replied, sarcastically, "Oh, must be nice to be an employee." (He's an independent contractor, so he doesn't have the privilege of being sick.)

Yesterday, he called me up again for a video chat (I hate video chats, I answered it accidentally), and opened with:

"You look terrible!"

"I'M SICK!"

"Ah... long time already. What's it been now, like 10 days?"

Me, with strangled rage at his exaggeration, "Only one week!"

I'm pretty sure if I didn't have a sense of humour, we couldn't be friends.
